Three Years

Personal, Uncategorized

Three years ago on Thursday I married my best friend.  While there have been ups and downs we have most definitely been blessed beyond our wildest dreams.  In the past three years we’ve seen each other through job changes, suffered the loss of both of my granddad and Papa, moved twice, bought a house, made wonderful new friends then not quite one year later wished them farewell, adopted the Hunter Bear, demoed our basement, and walked many blocks of Old Town just enjoying each others company.  I am so thankful to have such a wonderfully supportive, sweet, funny person to share this crazy life with and can’t wait to see where this next year takes us!

Custom Packaging | Alexandria, VA Photographer

Business

Ever since I can remember I have absolutely loved wrapping gifts.  It’s a well known fact in my family that Christmas gifts from me may in fact be more pretty outside than in.  If I was able to hand deliver client images you bet I would but since I have to mail them I had to come up with something that was easy but still pretty and elegant.

Though I do include digital images currently, I truly believe that every person should have tangible prints of their photos so I include a few favorites from each session.  I also include a sweet surprise from my favorite local candy shop in each box.  What’s better than enjoying some delicious treats while looking at pretty pictures?

Though it took seven months, I am so happy with the outcome.  All of my packaging is so perfectly suited to my brand and I cannot wait to send these out to my clients!

Erin & Elmer | Washington D.C. Wedding

Weddings

Erin and Elmer were married in an intimate ceremony at the cutest historic chapel in Maryland on quite possibly the most gorgeous summer day.  They were surrounded by their closest family and friends and everything about their day was so perfectly “them.”  It was such a blessing to be part of their day and see the genuine love and care they have for each other, even after so many years together.

Vacation Snapshots | Indian Rocks Beach, FL

Personal

Just a few snapshots from Florida.  I didn’t shoot as much as I had anticipated but it was nice to relax.  These are from a walk on the beach with my siblings.

Film: A Journey

Film, Personal

My love of photography began with an old Canon T-70 and Tri-X film (black and white.)  It was so fun to take photos then process and print my own work.  There was just something about it that I adored.  When I got into weddings I went digital and never looked back.  It just seemed easier and really, I thought that was what you were supposed to do.  I haven’t touched film in years.  Until recently.  Many amazing photographers have gone back to film and it is just absolutely gorgeous.  (Not to say digital photos aren’t.  I still plan to shoot all weddings in digital for now.)  I decided to pick up a film camera, a light meter, and a few rolls of film a few weeks back and see what came of it.  Turns out, I still really love shooting film.  I plan to keep this a personal project for now but will be blogging about it every now and then so feel free to follow along as I experiment with a format that, it turns out, I never fell out of love with.
